On February 2, 1997 Charles- The Carver of Tucson - purchased this jadeite pebble at the Pueblo Inn during the Tucson Gem Shows. His dealer was reputable and had no idea of the surprise inside the potatoe shaped rock.
On cutting the material Charles found that the material had been very skilfully constructed of three layers of junk jadeite with an internal chamber that was filled with leaf and emerald green jelly.
A 1/16th inch thick outer layer of jadeite had been left so the green layer could be barely seen from the outside. The appearance of the rind was perfect.
What an ingenuous fraud!
Charles is not willing to sell this piece - not even for the $ 100 he paid for.
