If not - you should register for C.I.G.'s popular new three-day seminar "Gemstones" and/ or the innovative Upgrade Course in Gem Identification and Diamond Grading.

GEMSTONES

Gemstones in 2 1/2 days - the ideal course for staff - experienced or novice

Day 1: Description of all important gems, including their appearance, occurrence, special physical and optical characteristics (supported by slides and videos)
Day 2: Introduction to diamond and colour gem grading, markets and value factors with appraisal guidelines
Day 3: Gem identification (including filled diamonds) using various instruments

Cost: $ 495. Register 2 people and more $ 425 per person.

TIMES: Sat, April 26,6:15 - 9:00 p.m., Sun/Mon, April 27/28, 10 a.m - 4:30 p.m. (weekend class)

Coffee and refreshments (lunches not included). All study materials and four colour text-book are provided and yours to keep. You will receive a Certificate of Participation.

DIAMOND GRADING CERTIFICATE - DIAMOND EXPERT (C.I.G.)

To obtain C.I.G.'s Diamond Grading Certificate students must complete course #130 Diamonds and #210 Diamond Grading. Both courses are available as home-study courses; the practical diamond grading course will be offered in Calgary. Cost: $ 1,480 - includes home-study course #130 Diamonds and #210 Diamond Grading.

LOCATIION: T.B.A.

TIMES: Wednesday, April 30, 12:30 - 4:30 p.m., Thursday/Friday, May 1/2, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

This intensive hands-on course (requires completion of course # 130 Diamonds and part of home-study part of course #210 Diamond Grading before workshop) teaches the student how to judge and grade clarity, colour and quality of cut according to both the internationally recognized GIA and European (CIBJO) grading systems. Methods for identification of synthetic diamonds, diamond simulants such as moissanite, detection of HPHT and other treatments using various instruments are also included. Highly recommended for sales-people, managers and jewellery appraisers.

GEMSTONE IDENTIFICATION

LOCATION: T.B.A.

TIMES: Tuesday - Friday, April 29 - May 2, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. (30 hours, 4 days)

Cost: $ 995 (no GST) includes all course materials. Limited to 10 students.

Using gem instruments over 80 stones including new synthetic materials will be tested.
