GL Gem Spectrometer

The GL Gem Spectrometer^TM system (300 - 1,000 nm range) is an innovative tool for gem dealers , gemmologists, jewellers and others.

The unique gem holder with halogen light source (VIS-NIR,  optimized for 400 - 950 nm) is mounted directly onto the spectrometer allowing fast real-time spectral analysis and bulk testing of both rough and faceted gemstones.

PLEASE NOTE: Using a fiber probe with the GL Gem Spectrometer requires a customized setup with external lighting and will change several parameters for obtaining a spectrum. Results may vary dependent on light source and its position, sample size (affecting path length) and orientation, etc.; spectra will look different from those found in the database and/or obtained with the GL 10W Halogen Gem Holder.

Direct Bank Transfer (payable to Canadian or German Bank) is the only accepted payment type for this product outside of North America, Australia and New Zealand. We also accept PayPal payments (5% surcharge) for shipping to a confirmed address. Please be aware of currency exchange fees charged by your bank for foreign credit card purchases.

Shipping/Insurance and handling will be added: Can$ 35 within North America (Canada and Continental USA) by DHL

Outside North America a flat rate of Can$ 95 (buyer is responsible for brokerage and customs charges) will be added to the purchase price for the following countries: Europe (EC countries), Australia/New Zealand, Hong Kong by TNT International or CanadaPost XpressPost International

Our Warranty and Commitment

The GL Gem Spectrometer is an advanced gem testing instrument for users who have a good understanding of spectroscopy and should be familiar with the use of a traditional gemmological spectroscope and the interpretation of spectra. The instrument is not capable of identifying or naming a sample; it should be used with other gem testing tools before arriving at a conclusion. If you are not satisfied with the performance of the spectrometer we will accept returns within 10 days but have to charge a restocking fee of 10% to cover our expenses of shipping/handling and recalibration if necessary. The purchaser is also responsible for the shipping and insurance to return the item.

We will repair and replace your GL Gem Spectrometer if necessary due to defective parts, etc during the first 6 months unless other consumer protection regulations exist in your country. We also offer free firmware/CCD upgrades within 12 months if shipped to us at your cost and risk and we will return the unit to you at no cost. After 12 months a processing fee of $ 295 will be charged which covers the firmware update with any CCD upgrade (can be customized), re-alignment and recalibration, etc. and return shipping charges; other repair services upon request. Software updates are always free.
