CIGem News Summer 2017

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

I have been travelling  in Europe in late June/early July and was lucky to spend two weeks in the Dolomites (Colfosco and Cortina d’Ampezzo – both places ideal for alpine hiking and mountain biking).  After my return we are now getting ready for the next Vancouver Gem & Mineral Show in Kitsilano scheduled for August 11 – 13. Books, used instruments, special gem study collections with gem and mineral liquidation are on sale. I am looking forward to meeting you. And have a nice summer holiday! Wolf Kuehn

GL Gem Halogen Light Holder Update

Recent purchasers of the 2017 GL Gem Spectrometer may have noticed an additional SMA 905 port on top of the GL Gem Light holder.

Together with a solarization resistant fiber assembly the extra port can be used to connect with the built in halogen light and/or attached to other UV light sources (UVNS) and lasers.

We are just beginning with our research and will report about possible applications in the next GL Newsletter. 

A new supply of the GL Gem Spectrometer 2017 model will be again available by August 15; please pre-order now.

GL Gem Raman Software Update

We have updated the GL Gem Raman PL532 2016/17 model software to final version 3.1. The integrated search engine can now accommodate customized databases with up to 3,000 references; search time is under one second which is probably the fastest presently known. If you have not received the upgrade package with updated reference libraries please contact us. This is for version 3.xx software only. Order the 2017 model of the GL Gem Raman PL532 here.

The exciting triennial Gem & Mineral Show coming to Vancouver following successful shows in Calgary, Edmonton, Victoria and Kewlowna.
